Weaker Foot Training

Weaker Foot: There are few left-footed players in soccer and even fewer genuinely two-footed soccer players. The majority of players who declare themselves “bothy” are actually one-footed players who can use their weaker foot inconsistently and often inappropriately. The theory behind On The Ball Soccer’s Weaker Foot Training is to completely relearn the techniques of soccer and then apply them to a player’s weaker foot. Traditional soccer training on a player’s weaker foot consisted of a player kicking a ball over and over until it got better. On The Ball Soccer trainers know that there is much more to training the two-footed player. While repetition of striking technique is critical, balance, approach, the standing foot and body shape need to be relearned before the ball is even touched. Players will use an “odd-sock” system that allows players and trainers to easily identify the weaker foot. This will encourage players not to take shortcuts and allows peer instruction and teamwork within small-sided competitive situations. Players learn the fundamentals of a technique and then On The Ball Soccer trainers place them in pressurized situations to develop the technique in to a skill. By developing skills that can be performed consistently with both feet under pressure a player will open up a world of opportunities within every game they play. On The Ball Soccer’s Weaker Foot Training. So much more than learning to “kick with the other foot”!
